Arts and Parenting Collective

using arts to create community among parenting and caregiving populations

About the Collective

Baby Book: Arts and Parenting Collective explores the arts as a powerful way to foster connection, empathy, and community among parents. We are dedicated to creating safe spaces where individuals can share and reflect on their diverse experiences of parenting—whether through pregnancy, birth, fertility struggles, miscarriage, adoption, fostering, or other aspects of the parenting journey.

Our goal is to spark meaningful conversations and encourage creative expression, allowing parents to feel seen, supported, and celebrated for the artistry involved in raising children.

Through various forms of storytelling, including dance, theater, film, and visual art, we aim to showcase the richness of parenting experiences and create a sense of solidarity among families. Stories shared may be featured in future artistic presentations, conferences, and events, or transformed into creative works such as choreography, voice recitals, theatre performances, and more.

We are also committed to supporting parents beyond creative expression. In partnership with local women’s healthcare and nonprofit organizations, such as NoCo Doula Collective, Peaceful Birth Community, and The Jacob Center, we provide links to valuable resources and support networks for birthing and adoptive families in Northern Colorado.

Stay connected with us for updates on upcoming events, including ‘The Arts and Family Summit,’ an event designed to bring parents together and celebrate their stories and journeys.

Baby Book Project

Our signature project, the Baby Book Film Project, brings to life a beautiful song cycle on miscarriage, pregnancy, and motherhood composed by Lauren Spavelko, paired with poetry by Chloe Yelena Miller. This multi-faceted project highlights the importance of art in nurturing and supporting families.

Our Impact

2025 Arts and Family Summit

In addition to our creative initiatives, we’ve been dedicated to gathering valuable resources for parents and caregivers across Colorado. We’re thrilled to announce our first annual Arts and Family Summit, taking place on May 24, 2025 in Fort Collins this year. The summit will debut the Baby Book films, foster community-building, and feature a focused on connecting families with essential support networks.
